Jewish Paper Guy???

Hi! My name is Dan. A few years ago I started making fun holiday cards out of paper for my friends and family (a walrus and a penguin lighting a menorah, a rabbi snowman, stuff like that). As I started to explore Judaism more deeply, I discovered something really amazing about our culture, that this funny hobby of mine was actually a deeply rooted Jewish art practice. For over a thousand years, Jews have been carving paper to decorate everything from prayer books, Torahs Ketubot virtually everything. It’s amazing to me that throughout our long history of being moved from place to place, our people found an innovative way to illuminate Jewish life with nothing more than a knife, a hard surface, and a piece of paper.

So whether I’m drafting a custom Ketubah design, building an album cover, a graphic for a magazine, or drawing my favorite thing (a bird), that admiration for the Jewish artists before me is at the core of what I do. Thanks for visiting!

One of the first pieces of paper art I ever made around the end of 2020, a Hannukah card for my girlfriend (now wife!)
